This summer of 2025 was a season with BIG surprises in the Caterina River and Pearson Lake.
The season started in January with good water. Optimal for the entry of salmon and fishing. Fish were caught in wonderful conditions, fresh and very aggressive, between 18 and 40Lb.

In the middle of the season the river was lower than normal and the rains were slow to arrive, so the salmon entered in smaller numbers than usual, which diminished the fishing a little. In any case, salmon of considerable sizes were caught, especially in Lake Pearson with sizes up to 65lb fishing with spinning.

At the beginning of the first rains, the river level quickly returned to normal and the run of fish increased immediately.
For a couple of seasons now the number of fish has been smaller, but the sizes are larger. River fishing is more technical and challenging, but very rewarding when you can trick these beasts.

In addition to the conventional flies we use (intruders and leechs), orange and pink plastic eggs tied in small bunches of five or six worked well this season.
At the end of the season with low water we fished very well with slow sinking and floating tipped lines and light flies.

The big surprise of this season were some salmon that exceeded 80lbs! fly fish. We just missed the old records, but we believe that in future seasons we will find them.
